Streamline Online Registration Process Into an All-Inclusive App

The online student ticket registration portal for University of Florida Basketball games was clunky and confusing. The research identified the use of multiple, inconsistent websites as the primary pain point. To solve this problem and achieve the overarching goal of getting more students to games, I designed an all-inclusive app with simplicity as the highest priority. The product reflects existing brand guidelines for familiarity and consistency.

PROJECT INSPIRATION

THE PROBLEM

The University of Florida Men's Basketball student tickets are free but require a registration process. Many students avoid the process and therefore miss the games. During the briefing, the University Athletic Association acknowledged that the current online system for ticket registration is confusing and unnecessarily cumbersome. Accessing student tickets after registration was on a different website which created additional confusion and frustration. The preexisting user flow is shown below.

Student feedback, Athletic Association interviews, and comparative analysis were used to inform decisions that solved current issues, created additional features, and refocused priorities. Navigation for the app includes four sections: Home, Tickets, Rowdy Reptile, and Profile

Student feedback, Athletic Association interviews, and comparative analysis were used to inform decisions that solved current issues, created additional features, and refocused priorities. Navigation for the app includes four sections: Home, Tickets, Rowdy Reptile, and Profile.

HOME

The home page operates as the registration portal. Students can view the game schedule, register for tickets, and set registration reminders for upcoming games.

TICKETS

Students can access their ticket for the current game. They can also view completed registrations for upcoming games.

ROWDY REPTILE

As a new feature, Rowdy Reptile status is displayed so that students can track their progress towards additional benefits. The more avid fans will also appreciate access to Gator player profile and stats.

PROFILE

The profile section includes student information, access to Athletic Association policies, and FAQ's. In the past, policies and FAQ's were hard to find on the website.

The versatility of an app-based interface unites all touchpoints of the student basketball fan experience. The design of the four-page navigation system combines ease of use with access to pertinent information in a fun and interesting manner.
